Meets minimum statutory requirements
Out of compliance
While most seclusion rooms were in compliance, MDLC reviewed a significant number of rooms that did not meet state building requirements. Some contained objects a child could use to injure themselves such as a metal chair or a hard desk. Others were poorly lit, not ventilated, inadequately heated or appeared to have water damage or paint-chipped surfaces.
Rooms must be at least six feet by five feet.

Rooms must be well lit, well ventilated, adequately heated, and clean.
