Volunteer

The Power to Make a Difference

Share your skills and talents as a volunteer at Mid-Minnesota Legal Aid! We value the expertise and experience of both attorneys, law students and non-attorneys in helping clients who cannot afford legal assistance or who lack access to the justice system and the safety and security they desperately need.

Making a difference:

Even a few hours of your time can make a lasting impact.

  • For those with legal expertise, opportunities include advice/brief service, clinics and full representation.
  • For those with expertise in other professions (accountants, educators, social workers, etc.) and civic-minded neighbors, you, too, can enhance our mission in improving access to justice.

As a volunteer with Mid-Minnesota Legal Aid, you can:

  • Represent clients in hearings
  • Provide direct legal services
  • Assist in complaints about housing discrimination
  • Develop legal fact sheets
  • Interpret for clients

Whatever your skill set, there is a volunteer job for you. Legal Aid provides training, administrative support and space to complete your assignment with Legal Aid.

If you’re an attorney, you must be licensed and in good standing with any relevant licensing body and you must be admitted to the bar of any state.

Partnering with Mid-Minnesota Legal Aid has given Fredrikson lawyers a wonderful opportunity to give back in many ways. From direct representation on estate-planning documents for senior citizens, to taking full-representation cases relating to housing security, or performing large research projects to advance policies relating to special education, we appreciate the opportunity to work with such dedicated lawyers. This work, this organization, is needed now more than ever to assure everyone has access to justice.
