Deputy Director

Abigail Cerra re-joined MMLA in February 2024 as the Minneapolis deputy director, having previously worked in MMLA’s Housing Discrimination Law Project. Prior to her current position, Abigail was senior legal counsel and chair of the Enterprise Pro Bono Committee for Wells Fargo. During her tenure at Wells Fargo, Abigail worked closely with philanthropy partners and MMLA leaders to create the Eviction Prevention Project, which won a Step Up Award from the Supreme Court of Minnesota. Abigail has worked as a Hennepin County public defender, an attorney in private practice and as a lead investigator with the City of Minneapolis. She also served as chair of the Minneapolis Police Conduct Oversight Commission and was named 2021 Minnesota Attorney of the Year for her work. She is a board member of Jaleel Stallings’ Good Apple Initiative and advisor to the St. Thomas Law School Community Justice Project. Abigail is a graduate of Loyola University Chicago and the University of Minnesota Law School.
