People with disabilities have a right to vote
With a mission to assure voter access for people with disabilities, the Minnesota Disability Law Center spearheads the Protection & Advocacy for Voter Access (PAVA) project.
This means election season is never over for our MDLC team. Before, during and after elections, we assess the voting experience of people with disabilities.
We compile our findings and advise the Secretary of State, recommending improvements to assure voter access.

It’s the law
- Getting help: People who need help voting can get help from anyone they want (but not the voter’s employer or union officer/agent).
- Accessibility: Polling places for federal elections must be accessible.
- Guardianship: People under guardianship have a right to vote, unless the court says otherwise.
