Website Accessibility
Digital accessibility and the multilingual formatting provided by our drop-down language menu represent the ongoing commitment to serve all constituents of Mid-Minnesota Legal Aid.
Our website was designed and developed with the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1, Level AA as the target standard. WCAG is published by the World Wide Web Consortium (W3C) and is the internationally recognized benchmark for web accessibility, referenced by the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) guidance and Section 508 of the Rehabilitation Act.
Accessibility practices incorporated into the site include:
- Semantic HTML structure and properly nested headings for screen reader navigation
- A “skip to content” link for keyboard and assistive technology users
- Alternative text for meaningful images
- Sufficient color contrast between text and backgrounds
- Full keyboard navigability
- Responsive design that supports zoom and text resizing
- Descriptive link text and labeled form fields
The drop-down language menu at the top of our website translates our web content into Amharic, Arabic, English, French, Hmong, Somali, Spanish and Vietnamese.
As industry standards evolve for best practices in website accessibility, weendeavor to implement those standards for our visitors.
