We are happy to let you know that Dan Stewart has been selected as MMLA/MDLC’s new Deputy Director/Legal Director, effective when Pamela Hoopes retires at the end of May.

For the past twelve years, Dan has been a Supervising Attorney for MDLC, heading up our Youth Services and Employment teams. Dan is a leader in advocating for systemic policy changes in special education and in the realm of employment. Recently, Dan has also taken on supervision of the Youth Law Project in our Minneapolis poverty law practice. Before joining MMLA/MDLC, Dan practiced with a private firm and with the state Department of Education, and founded the University of Minnesota Law School’s Special Education clinic. In addition to being an attorney, Dan has a masters degree in education administration, and a PhD in social work.
